Mind Body Life 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training! This years was a hit, next one starts Jan 2020!
Dr. Karen Pascoe & Shruti Keskar are over the moon excited to offer you this Mind-Body-Life, fully integrated approach to teaching yoga. This teacher training will delve deep into the art and science of yoga. We will prepare you to teach safe, effective, and highly beneficial yoga classes serving the community of your choice. Yoga is a transformative experience. Yoga can transform and elevate ones mind, body and life. A yoga practice increases personal awareness of the whole person- mind-body and spirit, and offers its practitioners skillful actions and interventions to improve health, well-being and the overall quality of their lives. In this training, you will learn the creative nature of a yoga practice as well as the science of yoga’s influence on one’s mind, body and life. Yoga has become modern and mainstream, and that is great because it has the ability to reach and benefit more people, but we want you to have the roots, the historical pieces of yoga that keep the practice anchored in tradition rather than trend. This training is holistic and fully integrated in the mind, body and spirt of a yoga practice with an emphasis on how to incorporate the essential techniques and principles of yoga into your, and your students, practices and life. You will understand the origins of yoga and how it has evolved into todays climate so that you can practice and teach with true intention and skill. In this training, you will become more mind-body aware, tapping into the body’s infinite wisdom. You will learn how yoga improves focus and concentration, reduces stress, improves balance, coordination, stability and strength in mind and body. The depth and breadth of your knowledge of yoga will grow beyond what you could imagine. You will build confidence and competence in your ability to use this knowledge in your own practice and share it with your students. Our intention is to offer trainees a solid base of knowledge of yoga, to help them understand the transformative nature of a yoga practice, and with love, passion and skill, offer yoga to others. This training is for those who love yoga so much that they want to soak up as much knowledge as they can until they are bursting at the seams and then share it with others. We will explore the rich history and branches of yoga, you will learn the eight limbs of yoga and how to incorporate them into your life. Then you will learn all the essential elements of a yoga practice such as the form and function of yoga poses, as well as breathing and mediation. You will develop an intimate knowledge of anatomy of poses and breath so that you feel awaken in your experience of how yoga’s pieces and parts fit together. You will learn how to design classes for a variety of ability levels in hatha, vinyasa, & restorative formats. You will become equipped and qualified to teach yoga to others while keeping them safe and inspired and you will be able to offer your students yoga tools to improve their vitality and well-being. The training group will be small and for those with common goals and intentions for the training. . We will help you learn to adapt your yoga practice to best benefit you and learn the authentic nature of your personal style of practice to teach with integrity. There is not one way to practice yoga that serves everyone. You will learn what feels best to you and how to offer that to your students. You will learn how to adapt a yoga practice to meet your needs as well as the needs and interest and your students. This 200 hour teacher training programs includes experiential learning (learning by doing), workshop (demonstration and participation), lecture, reading, independent study, processing, and journaling, all in a supportive, collaborative and nurturing environment. Our goal for the trainees is that they enjoy their learning experience and feel competent in their own personal practice and their ability to teach all that was learned to the students or community of their choice. The training will run January-May of 2019 and will be held mostly on weekday mornings (Tues-Thurs) with a few Saturday sessions. It aims to synch up with school schedules (no training the week of spring break and we will be finished before school gets out in May) although the final schedule will not be set until we have input from all who are participating. There will be some flexibility in hours to accommodate participants needs. This training will qualify you to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teach at the 200 level *RYT200”. This training will be like going back to college for one semester, studying only yoga and never being happier or more inspired. If you love to learn and you love yoga, join us.
